2008 Johnson Conference: Critical Issues in Monitoring Asbestos - July 2008

MZA's Roger Morse AIA made a presentation on the ASTM Standard Guide for Evaluating Asbestos in Dust on Surfaces by Comparison Between Two Environments at the 2008 Johnson Conference: Critical Issues in Monitoring Asbestos sponsored by ASTM Committee D22 on Air Quality, held July 14-18, 2008 at the University of Vermont.  The consensus Guide, which was approved on December 1, 2007 after 14 years of debate by ASTM sub-committee D22.07, provides a method for interpreting the results of analysis of surface dust samples collected and analyzed in accordance with the three ASTM asbestos dust methods.  At the conference Mr. Morse was honored with an award "for his tireless efforts and professionalism over 14 years of devotion to the development of ASTM D7390-07."

Best 1: MZA presents at the first biennial international conference on Building Enclosure Science and Technology - June 2008

The first biennial international conference organized by BEC-National and the Building Enclosure Councils of the US was held June 10-12, 2008 at the Minneapolis Convention Center in Minneapolis, MN.  Roger Morse AIA presented Session E-11 entitled “Air Barriers vs Vapor Barriers.”  In his presentation, Mr. Morse described the applicability of WUFI simulation techniques in evaluating building envelope components.

The Environmental Institute - May 2008

MZA's Roger Morse AIA served as an instructor at the “Mold Assessment and Remediation in Buildings” course at The Environmental Institute (TEI). This three-day course provides practical instruction on assessing and correcting mold and moisture problems in buildings. The course is of interest to physical plant and facility managers, consultants, and contractors. Course topics included the following:
•"Understanding Bldg. Systems"
•"Important Issues Regarding HVAC Systems"
•"HVAC Mold remediation"

AIHce 2008: Vision. Value. Impact. - May 2008

The annual AIHce Conference titled AIHce 2008: Vision. Value. Impact. was held at the Minneapolis Convention Center in Minneapolis, MN from May 31-June 5, 2008.  MZA's Roger Morse AIA and Paul Haas presented a Professional Development Course (PDC) titled 'Solving Water Damage Problems’ which discussed ways in which to correct buildings with water damage problems.
